Immigrate as Family Member

At LGT Immigration, we are experts when it comes to family sponsorship.
  • Sponsor Your Spouse or Partner

Whether your partner is legally married to you (a spouse, that is), living with you as a common-law partner, or having a conjugal partner relationship with you but could not live together with you due to a factor or situation that’s beyond your control, you can sponsor your spouse/partner to Canada as long as you meet the following criteria:

    1. Your Qualifications:
      1. You’re at least 18 years old.
      2. You’re a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident (PR) of Canada.
      3. You’re not receiving social assistance other than disability.
      4. You are able to support a person whom you are sponsoring.
      5. If you are a PR, you must be living in Canada.
      6. If you are a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must be able to prove that you plan to live in Canada once a person you are sponsoring becomes a PR.

    2. Your Spouse's Qualifications:
      1. Legally married to you
      2. At least 18 years old

    3. Qualifications for Common-Law Partner:
      1. Not legally married to you Can be of any sex or gender
      2. At least 18 years old
      3. Has been living with you for at least one year without any long periods apart

    4. Qualifications for Conjugal Partner:
      1. Not legally married to you and not in a common-law relationship with you
      2. Can be of any sex or gender
      3. At least 18 years old
      4. Has been in a relationship with you for at least 1 year Living outside of Canada Unable to live with you in their country, or marry you, due to legal and immigration reasons
  • Sponsor Your Child

As a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident, you can sponsor your dependent children to immigrate to Canada. In order for your children to be qualified as dependents, they must meet all these criteria:

    1. Under 22 years old
    2. Have no spouse or common-law partner

Children at 22 years of age or older may qualify as dependants if they meet both of these criteria:

    1. Unable to financially support themselves due to a physical or mental condition
    2. Have depended on the parent(s) for financial support since before the age of 22

In short, a spouse is someone who is legally married to you. A common-law partner is someone who has been having a romantic relationship with you and has been living with you for at least a year without long periods of being apart from you. A conjugal partner is someone with whom you are having a romantic relationship but cannot live together or marry you due to both legal and immigration restrictions. More information can be found on the official IRCC website.

An application fee for spouse/partner sponsorship starts at $1,050 CAD. Please note that these numbers are the fees for IRCC. For our service, we evaluate the fee on a case-by-case basis. I am a Canadian or PR. How does your service work if I am about to sponsor both my spouse and my child?

If you want to bring both the spouse and the child(ren), we would process both applications together as it’s much more time and cost-efficient to sponsor both mother (or father in some cases) and child at once.

CANADA

One of the Best Countries to Raise a Family

Canada is the #1 country in the world when it comes to quality of life, according to a survey data in 2021. Not only that, Canada realizes the importance for the family to be together so the government makes it possible for your loved one to sponsor you – and for you to sponsor your loved one. Below are some reasons why Canada is such a great place for a family to be together.

Canada’s Universal Healthcare System ensures that Canadians and Permanent Residents have access to free healthcare for most medical services. Even if you don’t have a government health card, you can still receive free emergency medical services at a nearby hospital.

Free Education

If at least one of the parents is a Canadian or a Permanent Resident, or a temporary resident with a valid Study Permit or Work Permit, the child is entitled to free public education from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Canada cares about the quality of life of the new-coming immigrants. Once you land on Canadian soil, you won’t be left alone. The Canadian government funds many public programs to help the newcomers adjust to the Canadian workforce and culture by providing free services and training programs related to job finding, language training, and skill development.

SOCIAL INSURANCE

In Canada, everyone is protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, one of Canada’s most important legal documents that helps to establish Canada as a free, democratic country. Here in Canada, you and your family have the right to equality, mobility, and freedom of thought, belief, and expression.
